Potts Law's second suit in a week against xAI in the same Fayetteville court puts the Western District of Arkansas at the center of Grok related child sexual abuse imagery litigation.
A second federal civil suit was filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas, in Fayetteville, alleging xAI's Grok assistant was used to generate child sexual abuse imagery depicting the 16-year-old child of the plaintiff family at a Bentonville photographer's request (Arkansas Democrat-Gazette). xAI is Elon Musk's artificial-intelligence company.
The filing is the second in the same court against xAI over alleged Grok-generated child sexual abuse imagery in roughly a week. Plaintiff-side counsel Potts Law Firm is on both federal cases; a press release from the firm calls the new case a "third" xAI suit in the matter overall. A first federal suit against xAI was filed in the same court on or about August 6–7, and a related state-court action in Benton County was filed on August 4. The "second" count from the regional paper and the "third" count from the plaintiff firm are unreconciled in the available sources.
xAI has not been confirmed to have publicly responded. The status of last week's federal filing, the specific causes of action in the new complaint, and whether any criminal proceedings are pending against the photographer named in the suit are also open.
