Inside the rebranded Pentagon, Project Meridian is a 120 day panel that will map future war domains and deliver a public readout alongside a classified annex.
US War Secretary Pete Hegseth on Wednesday unveiled Project Meridian, a 120-day civilian-corporate panel co-led by Elon Musk, Palmer Luckey, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. The panel will map the future of US warfare and hand the War Department a public readout alongside a classified annex.
Hegseth announced the panel during his State of the Force address at Quantico, per a Big News Network pickup of the remarks. The Fox News account places the panel under War Department CTO Emil Michael.
The remit is narrow on paper. Members are asked to identify future domains and capabilities "from under the Earth to beyond the moon," not to write strategy or policy. Their deliverable: a public findings presentation and a classified annex, due in roughly four months.
The public readout is what citizens can audit; the classified annex is what shapes the next round of purchases. Luckey runs Anduril, and Musk's SpaceX already counts the War Department as a major customer, putting both co-leads inside the same procurement picture they are now being asked to forecast.
The panel's charter, scope, and how its findings will be used are not yet public.
